In 1997, Pete Suazo helped Gladys Gonzalez write a business plan and obtain a loan for her first business, Mundo Hispano newspaper. This inspired Gladys to pass on that same commitment and service to her entire community. After Senator Suazo’s death, Gladys gathered support from her community to create a center to honor Pete Suazo’s name and to provide the same service, commitment and expertise Pete had given her.
With Senator Bob Bennett’s support, The Suazo Center opened its doors to the community in 2003. Today we continue Pete Suazo’s legacy by helping thousands of minority and underserved entrepreneurs become successful business owners in their communities.
